During supervision sessions, I encourage and allow the Supervisee to share their own knowledge and understanding of their counselling experience, as they wish, or feel is  appropriate for them. Supervision sessions are aimed at helping the Supervisee confront, challenge, enhance and inevitably, change aspects of the way they may currently be working, whilst  developing positive and forward thinking  perspectives as they support their clients.

My personal view of effective supervision, is that as a Counselling Supervisor, the importance of being able to incorporate and demonstrate qualities of honesty, genuineness, trust  and openness, between myself and the Supervisee is paramount.

The supervision experience can be quite exposing, not only for the  Counsellor as the  (Supervisee) but also for me, as the Counselling Supervisor.

With this in mind, it is imperative that I work professionally, ensuring  that ethical boundaries between myself and the Supervisee are maintained and always encourage the Supervisee, to be aware of the need to develop effective self-care skills.

In its basic form, my humble opinion of counselling supervision, is based on the concept, that to work safely and effectively as  Counsellors, we really need to learn about our clients and to bring the work that we feel may be posing some difficulty to us to supervision sessions, whilst maintaining anonymity.

Perhaps, we may feel we are not moving forward, as well as we had hoped with a client during our counselling sessions. Exploring this during supervision can be invaluable.

As an effective listener and communicator, my role is to use these skills in a non-judgmental way, along with respect, acceptance, patience and understanding to support and encourage the Supervisee.

There will be occasions where you may experience a range of emotions and this is normal and acceptable. During those times, I will do all I can to be emotionally present with you at that moment, to support you effectively and appropriately.

Our Supervision sessions will always be confidential and I will discuss any safeguarding concerns i may envisage may have taken place, or could potentially arise with your clients as we discuss the work you are doing to support your clients.

If an issue regarding safeguarding has been disclosed, you will be supported and guided regarding what action should be taken, pertaining to which service is to be notified

I am currently supporting Supervisees from previous referrals, but I currently have the capacity to accept new Supervisees.

I offer a ‘FREE’ 30 minute ‘Supervision Consultation Session’, at a mutually agreed time between us. This can take place face-to-face, via Phone, Zoom, Teams or other media.

This session will provide us both, with the opportunity to see if you feel I could be a suitable Supervisor for you, and hopefully to see if I feel I could be the right Supervisor for you,
